Aquariums
Aquariums can be both saltwater or freshwater. These can be completely customized, to any specifications you have. We prefer to use live plants, corals and algae, but we can make realistic fake inserts with animal-safe epoxies.
Terrariums
We can create any landscape, from a desert to a forest, it can be any landscape you can imagine. We even use special micro-organisms within the soil, to help break down waste that naturally accumulates.
Paludariums
A Paludarium is anything that incorporates both land and water features, like a fish tank or waterfall within a terrarium. These are the most extravagant tanks we can create, because of all the possibilities.

Before we take a job, we do extensive research on the natural habitat which your pet would reside. From there, our experts will design a habitat/ecosystem based on what your pet would be most comfortable with. Our goal is to give your pet the feeling that it never left the wild.
A Paludarium is an aquarium that mixes both aquatic and land elements. Sometimes used for frogs, turtles, snakes and even ants, these make some of the most serene environments.
A Bioactive terrarium uses little bugs, bacteria, and microorganisms in the soil that are meant to break down waste in the tank. It’s a clean up crew! They clean up after your pet so you don’t have to. With some bioactive setups, people can go years without needing to manually clean their tanks.
You may notice a dirty spot form in some areas, even in an established bioactive tank. It doesn’t mean your clean up crew is dead! Springtails, Isopods, and other organisms prefer to live in moist areas, and don’t like fake plants/scenery. In cases of dry, non humid tanks, the waste will dry up and be difficult to decompose. If you see a dirty spot, mist it a few times a day, and it’ll most likely get broken down within a day or two.
I started Alternative Aquariums because of my friend. I noticed that their pet snake was living in a small tank with paper towels as substrate, a small log hide and a water dish. That tank made me sad, and it looked like the snake was suffering. I offered to build them a new and improved tank, and they agreed. The new terrarium had all the stops, and even a waterfall, but I knew I could do even better. I decided I wanted to keep building those tanks, and Alternative Aquariums was born.”
